Expert planting & plant selection

Most landscapers know plants. Ecclestone Designs knows plants at a level that is genuinely rare, spanning thousands of varieties, their growth habits, their light and water needs, and how they read against different architecture. Nothing goes in because it looked good at the nursery. Everything is chosen because it belongs.

Pool landscaping

With around 90% of our projects built around a pool, the planting near the water is handled with particular care. The wrong plants drop debris, stain surfaces and add to the cleaning roster. The right plants frame the pool, add privacy and build the resort feel.

Planting plans (also available standalone)

Every project is underpinned by a detailed planting plan that maps each plant: its species, placement, spacing and why it belongs. It is a considered composition built around your site's sun, soil and existing features, and it is available on its own for clients refreshing an established garden.

Waterwise & native gardens

Perth's climate is specific: hot dry summers, sandy western-suburbs soils, water restrictions and the polyphagous shothole borer affecting certain species. Gardens that look spectacular in spring can fail by February if the planting isn't right. We plan around all of it.

After appreciating  Katie’s work renovating our son’s garden in East Fremantle,  we asked her to totally redesign our sandy, uninspiring front garden which had a tired, unused swimming pool and a gap where a Robinia had succumbed to the polyphagous shothole borer. To create a waterwise and easy-care garden, resistant to the borer, and which would attract and nourish native birds, we wanted plants native to the southwest corner of WA. Katie was a delight to work with and very patient as we tweaked her wonderful design. Our collaboration has produced an oasis of colour and calmness and we now spend more time sitting on our front veranda enjoying the flourishing garden than we ever have in the thirty years we have lived here. FAQs

Do you only do large projects, or smaller gardens too?

Both. We deliver full backyard builds as well as smaller front yard and single-zone projects. Every project starts with the same on-site consultation so Katie can understand your space and scope properly.

Can I get just a planting plan for my existing garden?

Yes. Planting plans are available as a standalone service for clients who have an established landscape and want a considered, professional approach to refreshing or replanting their garden beds.

Will my garden survive Perth summers and water restrictions?

That is exactly what we design for. Waterwise planting is central to every project, using southwest WA natives, drought-tolerant Mediterranean varieties and carefully chosen exotics that thrive in Perth's conditions rather than fighting them.

Do you offer ongoing garden maintenance?

Yes. For clients who want their garden professionally maintained after completion, we offer seasonal visits, pruning and feeding programs, and more comprehensive care arrangements. The team that built the garden understands it best.

Do you landscape around pools?
